HOW TO BID ON AUCTIONS

Bidding on auctions on Portero.com is straightforward and easy. We offer a trusted online auction shopping experience that is safe and secure. By placing a bid, you are making a commitment to buy this item if you are the high bidder when the auction closes.


Step 1: Placing your Bid

·         Sign In or Register

·         When you register and create a Portero account, your credit card is required in order to place bids on the site. This information is kept on file and used to authorize and ensure your correct identity. Auctions won, but not paid for, are subject to a $75 cancellation fee that will be automatically billed to this registered credit card.

·         Click “Place a Bid” on the auction listing page for the item on which you wish to bid. In order to win the item, you must have the highest bid when the auction closes.

·         You must enter at least the minimum required bid. You may also enter the maximum bid price you are willing to pay, and Portero will automatically enter only the minimum bid required. If others bid against you, Portero will

automatically bid on your behalf the minimum amount necessary to top competing bidders, up to your maximum bid.

·         If you have the highest bid when the auction expires, you will win the item.


Step 2: Confirming your Bid

·         Click “Confirm Bid” after you have verified the amount of your bid (or subsequent bids).

·         Once you confirm your bid, and if you are the highest bidder, a confirmation message will appear on the next page indicating that “You are the Current High Bidder”.


Step 3: Monitoring and Changing your Bid

·         To monitor your bid(s), click on your My Account page and view your “Active Open Bids”. You may click on the auction product title to go back to the auction page if you’d like to enter a new bid.

·         You may change your bid by returning to the auction listing and clicking on "Place a Bid".

·         Click on the “Bid History” text link to view the bidding activity for this item.


Step 4: Winning and paying for your item

·         If you are the highest bidder when the auction closes, congratulations! You won!

·         If you are watching the auction close and you are the highest bidder, the auction listing page will show your username as the high bidder.

·         You will be sent a confirmation email with a link to our secure online checkout.

·         Alternatively, you may click on My Account, and under “Auctions Won” you should see the item listed. Click the “Checkout” button, your item will be placed in your shopping bag to complete your transaction.

·         You must pay within three (3) calendar days of notification. You may also call Customer Care and provide payment information by phone, if you prefer.
